It was just a week since OBNUBIL was born and maybe two weeks on Instagram when we discovered a profile full of melancholy and whose author seemed to like telling stories. Following her posts from then and ahead was a great discovering. Behind these pictures was a creative composer whose work reminded us a lot to the Yann Tiersen's works for Amélie and the unforgettable Danny Elfman's works for Tim Burton. ROBILLARD AMANDINE is a great example of what THE COVENANT stands for; an artist keeping a dark soul inside.
Born and raised in France's Normandy region, Amandine took up the guitar in her teens while starting to compose original songs, and shortly thereafter began to perform with local bands.
Upon graduating from high school she studied music and languages at the universities of Rouen and Paris, and holds a bachelor's degree in classical/romantic music. She gained exposure to the idiom of jazz guitar performance at the renowned American School of Modern Music/IMEP in Paris and is currently working on a master's degree on the topic of film music.
Her special interest in composition and film scoring led to her being accepted in two exclusive courses of study on film scoring that are conducted by highly regarded composers Tiziana de Carolis and Jean-Michel Bernard in Paris.
Inspired by artists from the Romantic and Gothic eras, reaching from Edgar Allan Poe, Gustav Doré and Robert Schumann all the way to Tim Burton, she created a very personal style of composition in which she strives to combine poetic and dark elements alike. Her love for the macabre and the bizarre has resulted in opportunities to work and collaborate with talented artists, directors, and photographers such as Vanessa Pavie-Crottier and Amit Babooa.
Amandine had the opportunity to perform during the first-ever performance in France of Danny Elfman's music from his enduring collaboration with director Tim Burton, sharing the stage with members of the Orchestre & Choeur Lamoureux, one of France's oldest orchestra and choir ensembles, world-renowned conductor John Mauceri, and Mr. Danny Elfman himself.
'She performed with Danny Elfman!'
She has composed original music for several short films and composes for television and advertising. She calls the Montmartre district of Paris, where she resides with her two black cats, her home.
