Outside, the rain refused to stop — a cold, relentless downpour that soaked hundreds of fans as they lined up outside the Palacio Vistalegre. Umbrellas trembled, jackets clung to wet skin, and yet nobody moved. Nobody left. The devotion was absolute. By the time the doors finally opened, the atmosphere felt electric: a sea of dripping bodies ready to step out of the storm and into an entirely different one — the industrial, theatrical, and unapologetically provocative world of Till Lindemann.
Unfortunately, due to an unexpected issue affecting all media accreditations, the press was not allowed to enter until Till Lindemann’s performance had already begun. This meant that we were unable to photograph or review the opening act Aesthetic Perfection — something deeply regrettable, especially knowing how much energy they usually pour into these shows. Still, judging by the crowd’s excitement once inside, it’s clear they delivered a strong performance.
A Setlist Built Like a Hammer
Once inside, it became immediately clear that the night’s setlist was designed for maximum impact. The printed sheet circulating among fans — and seen after the concert — revealed a meticulously crafted sequence that blended brutality, theatricality, and dark humor in equal measure.
The show opened with the atmospheric INTRO: “Meine Welt”, setting a cinematic tone before Lindemann launched straight into “FAT”, immediately pulling the crowd into his twisted, provocative universe.
From there, the intensity didn’t let up:
-
- “Und Die Engel Singen” and “Schweiss” brought crushing industrial rhythms.
- “Altes Fleisch”, “Golden Shower”, and “Sport Frei” showcased the unapologetic shock-art spirit that defines Lindemann’s solo work.
- “Tanzlehrerin”, “Blut”, “Allesfresser”, and “Prostitution” added darker, more atmospheric layers to the set.
- Fan favorites like “Praise Abort” and “Skills in Pills” turned the venue into a loud, chaotic chorus, with the entire audience shouting every line. Between them also “Platz 1” and “Du hast kein Herz”
The second half of the show shifted into a slightly more emotional, yet still razor-sharp territory:
-
- “Übers Meer” offered a rare moment of melancholic calm.
- “Knebel – 2nd Part” delivered one of the most intense climaxes of the entire night.
- “Fish On” and “Ich hasse Kinder” reignited the fire with full power.
- And, as expected, the Spanish crowd erupted when Lindemann performed “Entre Dos Tierras”, his striking adaptation of the Héroes del Silencio classic — one of the most celebrated moments of the concert.
- The show ended with the outro “Home Sweet Home”, leaving the audience floating between catharsis and exhaustion.
A Performance That Overpowered the Rain
The stage production was as intense as expected: provocative visuals, dramatic lighting, and a sound design that filled every corner of the venue. Till’s deep, abrasive voice cut through the mix with clarity, conveying both brutality and lyricism. The Madrid audience responded with full passion, making up for the cold, rainy wait with absolute devotion.
Musically, the concert was an emotional rollercoaster: industrial riffs, heavy electronic beats, dense atmospheres, and more intimate passages that contrasted beautifully with Till’s imposing stage presence. Both the new material and reimagined classics were received with enthusiasm, creating a dynamic flow that kept the audience immersed throughout.
Despite the entry issues and the inability to cover the opening acts, Till Lindemann’s concert in Madrid stood as a spectacle of overwhelming force. From the provocative visuals to the carefully curated setlist, everything aligned to deliver an intense, immersive experience.
Madrid arrived soaked and shivering…
but it left the venue burning hot.
